Easter

"The end of the something i did not want to end,
Beginning of hard times to come.
But something that was not meant to be is done,
And this is the start of what was."
~The Streets, "Empty Cans"

Easter.

I'm not really a fan of it, and it's a bit more personal than the risen Lord (who I dig) or copious amounts of ham and kielbasa. (Ham can go, but I likes me some kielbasa.)

It truly does signify change and endings, and then new beginnings.

What are your Easter memories?

Happy Valentines

That's what I have for you. It's kind of funny to see Eddie Vedder shake his head when he realized the mistake.

"The thing about blood -- Family... It's always there. You can hate each other. You can want to kill each other. But you never stop loving each other. But 'love love'? Damn. That's a whole other thing."
~ Joey Ice Cream, "The Black Drop", The Black Donnellys

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey.

If you are reading this and have linked to me, thank you. I'm thankful for you.

It's been quite the year, and it's still rolling. Maybe we can really make this year of years.

Happy Thanksgiving, fuckers.

Happy Halloween

Devil

Happy Halloween fuckers.

I think I'll read some choice Poe and enjoy my All Hallow's Eve. I'm also giving stuff to the trick or treaters. One might end up with an old school Game Boy, or something else I don't need.

Think the kids will take slabs of gut?

Weekend of Labor (or lack thereof)

Yeah.

Another Labor Day weekend down. No employment labor for me, just driving and good times.

I take that back. There was a bit of drunken texting (as referenced by my last post) and painting.

Friday night I went to see Rob Zombie's Halloween with Shafter and Sparky. While the flick was good, it only works as a stand-alone or a fan film. Thinking of it as a remake in effort to replace and continue the franchise is a horrid thought. They went down two different lines and intent, in my opinion. I hope Rob Zombie doesn't decide to do a sequel, because I can't see how he can do it without a huge leap of even horror flick faith. I do think Rob Zombie is the Kevin Smith of horror. Why? He keeps using the same actors too, and the dialogue definitely tells you who the writer/director is.

Saturday had not much that I can recall offhand except for the Old Shillelagh with James. Much beer was had, along with texting and dancing on the dance floor to old school rap. Some parts are a blur, but I ran into some old classmates, one of which was getting married. (Kim Baruzzini, for you FHS type people.)

Sunday had me painting a large portion of my bedroom and traveling to Ohio. Good times were had, and sleep was found. I was even ridiculed for U of M's "Appalachian Folly", but oh well.

Monday sent me to Geauga Lake for an hour or so then a drive back to Casa de Garvin for some Tsuro, a dash of Settlers, and a delicious turkey dinner. Thereafter, it was a drive home in which I ended up taking a nap (no worries, the car was stopped), and a couple of interesting phone calls.

Then... sleep.

I didn't get a lot of solid sleep this weekend, but the friends made up for it.

Good times.

Mid-holiday Status

The holidays have been good, so far. I've been trying to relax and enjoy my time and even spend time away from being plugged into the net. It's been nice, and I can start making a list of all the things I need to do around the house. And yes, there's a list building...

Oh. I made a quiz about myself. If you want to take it, you can.

Other than that, it's bowling and hanging with people. Good times.

Be safe, fuckers.

I'm sorry I've been devoid of interesting content, but I just haven't been up to invest the time on topics... but the future will definitely be giving me stuff to blog about. Good times, bad times, crap and drama. Oh yes. It will be an interesting time ahead.

Thanksgiving Thoughts

"Probably the toughest time in anyone's life is when they have to murder a loved one because they're the devil. Other than that though... It's been a good day." ~Emo Philips

Thanksgiving.

The holiday in which we are supposed to give thanks for the people and events in our life which make life worth living. The time where family and friends come together to recall the past and the moments which really mattered.

For me, it's almost the complete opposite.

Really, it's an interesting time for me to look back on my life. For me, a lot of things die in this end of the season. Things like inspiration, my health, and even relationships (friendships and romantic), just to name a few. But this is also a time for change.

It's time for me to re-examine how I look at life and how I live. It's time for me to understand the pluses and minuses which make up who I am. It's time to put myself under the microscope and understand where I can make changes in my life and how to do so. I believe I've already made a few changes. By New Year's Eve, I'll have lived in three homes over a one year span. But now, I'll be settling down in my own home.

It's a good change for me. I'm finding a new start in this life.

For that, I'm thankful.
