Happy Birthday Peaj!
Another friend, another birthday. What can I say about Peaj? She's an amazing friend, wife, and mother, as far as I've seen. I've known her for what seems like ages, so I'd like to think I'm a pretty good judge on these things. I guess only Chuck would be able to truly confirm them. Nevertheless, she's one of my most trusted, and it's an honor to have her call me a friend. Life wouldn't be the same without her. Peaj, happy birthday! I hope it's the best one yet. I love ya and miss ya, kiddo! Labels: birthday, Peaj
Hoo-rah!
Happy 233rd birthday to the United States Marine Corps! Thank you for protecting our freedoms, kicking ass, taking names, and doing the job no one else wants to do. First in, last out. I'm also supposed to get insulation throughout my house today. Warmth! Labels: birthday, house, USMC

Yet Another Birthday?
Another birthday post. you October babies. I swear. We know what your parents were doing in cold, cold February now, don't we? At least we ended up with Skip -- A stand up guy whose trying to make an honest woman out of his lady. A radio co-host, computer guy, and ukulele rocker -- a few facets of what makes this guy the legend he is. Happy birthday bro. It was good to see you in town last week. Labels: birthday, skip
Skip and Jen: the Detroit Adventure
I rolled out of bed this morning and answered a few emails when my phone rang. Skip was calling, asking if I'd had breakfast. He and Jen were staying in a hotel near the airport to celebrate Skip's upcoming birthday. For some weird reason, they thought Detroit would be a fun place to go. They wanted to meet up and hang out, and we began with breakfast.
We met up at the house and headed over to Gest Omlettes for some breffis, then headed over to wander Westland Mall, looking for sunglasses Skip could wear over his current Buddy Holly style specs. After that, it was straight to downtown Detroit. We parked the car at Greektown and hopped the People Mover around town before ending up at the Detroit Beer Company. We ordered a round (Me - the stout, Skip - the Red, and Jen - the pumpkin), and the waitress ended up bringing me the porter instead of the stout. I told her I'd ordered the stout, and she said that I could still drink it, because otherwise, they'd have to pour it out, and the next one was on her.
Awesome!
So, We come around for round two, and of course, I want the stout. Skip orders the stout as well, and Jen, the red, and a banana split. Ronnie, our waitress, comes back with the Red, the split, and 1.5 glasses of stout. Apparently, the keg went dry, and the guy who changes them wasn't going to be in for another forty minutes or so. I even out the two stouts, and we drink, as well as make the suggestion that we'll change the keg for them for free T-shirts. Ronnie later comes by with two stouts, and we imbibe those as well. I then pay the tab ($19.82?!?) and tip quite handsomely. We say thanks on the way out, and ask how much for a shirt.
Skip got a freebie.
How cool is that? After that, it was back to Greektown for cigars, then over to Hart Plaza to walk around and check out the Princess Cruise ship, as well as get people asking for money. I eventually got word that previous thoughts to go see the Whalers play were shot down, due to the fact that they were playing in Niagra, and not Plymouth. My dad had even gotten his dates mixed up and thought next week's game was today. After the times in downtown Detroit were done, it was off to the Thai restaurant on Main (which took forever), then a stop at the parent's as per Skip's request. An hour later, it was off to see the Underdog play in Keego Harbor. I, like my father, had gotten dates mixed up, and well, they weren't playing tonight. Some scary old bearded band was playing. We quickly retreated back to the ride and they drove me back to my domicile, then Skip and Jen retreated back to their hotel. All in all, it was a fun day. And just look at the happy pairing. Aren't they cute? Labels: birthday, Detroit, Jen, skip
Another birthday?
Garvin's in the foreground, Cabbie's in the rear. Just the way Garvin likes it! Yeah, that's what she said! At any rate, happy birthday, Mr. Bryan Garvin. I hope it kicks much ass. Thanks for being a true friend over the years. It's good to know there's a few people in this world who I can trust with everything, and even better to know you are one of them. Salut. A birthday wish...
Happy birthday Lish! Hope it's a good one, kid. May your hopes and dreams all become real, in short order. And yeah, I know the pic is old, but it's a good one, and better than the blurry one from 1998 I almost put up. It's been a wild ride since we first met in 1994, eh? Next time we hang out, the beer's on me. Labels: alicia, birthday

Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful
On this two hundred and thirty-second birthday of the United States Marine Corps, I'm still thinking of their motto. Meaning "aways faithful", "Semper Fi" is something that seems to have been ingrained in me, as I've stayed faithful to so many when times and situations should have warranted otherwise. It's a personality trait I got from my father -- a man I greatly respect. He's no longer in the Corps, but he's very proud of his enlisted time. As well he should be.
Happy birthday, Marines. Thank you for everything. Labels: birthday, USMC
Weekend Recap: Lack of sleep
Well, the birthday is over. The party was a huge success, and I think everyone found some fun. We killed the keg, and I got little sleep. There was drinking, hot tubbing, beer pong, and good food. I think I may have to throw another one of these types of bashes....
I am still trying to recover from my lack of sleep since Thursday, with the last day of bowling and the post-bowling celebration, the partying with the Scape Films branch of people on Friday, the Birthday setup and bash on Saturday (along with not going to bed till five am), and the pool relaxation and birthday/Father's day celebration on Sunday.
Once I got home today, I did MORE dishes (I'm still finding glass beer mugs -- Intact, nonetheless -- in the back yard, but I fear we had a few too many glasses shatter. Note to self: don't put all the plastic cups near the keg. Spread em around.) I watched about half of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, before crashing at eleven. I went into deep sleep, but woke up a half hour later. An hour after that, I heard two drunk ladies brawling at the bar. Nice thuds. These weren't the chick fights with hair pulling and slapping... no no.
And now, I've waken up late. And still, I blog. Labels: birthday, review
Party!
For those of you who haven't heard yet, I'm throwing myself a birthday party.
Lame? Probably. Intriguing? Hopefully.
I'm turning 28 soon, and the party will be held on the 16th of June. It's BYOB, so all you alcoholics know ahead of time. If you want to bring some snack or booze to share, awesome. If not, that's cool, too.
Chud says he's possibly acquiring a keg, so it means I'll have to get a makeshift beer pong table going. The hot tub will be running, so be ready to have a good time, relax, and celebrate the birth of a guy who wasn't supposed to live past eight hours.
Need directions? Hit me up via Odeo, Skype or email.
Yes, that means you. Labels: beer, birthday, party

Happy 230th Birthday , USMC!
Happy birthday to the United States Marine Corps, who are celebrating 230 years of kicking ass and taking names.
I salute each and every one of you for protecting this country and its freedoms.
Semper Fidelis!
Semper Fidelis is Latin for Always Faithful - The motto of the United States Marine Corps. The best motto to live by, and after being raised by a Marine, I also follow said creed. I wonder how different my life would have been if I had enlisted after graduation as opposed to staying home.
I guess I'll never know.
All I do know is I respect the hell out of every single Marine out there. First in, last out, and there when it absolutely, positively, has to be blown up overnight. Labels: birthday, USMC
Nothing.
I just felt like posting something. Go Pistons! Labels: birthday, meh, pistons
Happy 229th, USMC!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please. If you see someone who was in the United States Marine Corps today, please with them a happy birthday. To quote the USMC website:
The United States Marines have defended and fought for the American people since before the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. Congress authorized two battalions of Marines on November 10, 1775 - the official birth of the Marine Corps.
Since its inception, the Marine Corps has celebrated a legacy unlike any other. Its force is rich in history and traditions - upholding three core values that are at the soul of its institution: honor, courage and commitment. Semper Fidelius. Labels: birthday, USMC
