The ties that bind...
The binds that people people together are weird.
Some bonds can be damaged irreparably. Others, however, can be rebuilt.
There's definitely some people I would never want to see again in my life. You know, people who have wronged me severely, or have left me with such a damaged view that I just don't want to even fathom a thought regarding them because at that point, it would seem to me to be a waste of time.
But, there are others I once thought that way about, but now the bonds are either rebuilding, or show some signs of growth, and I'm intrigued. Could these bonds ever be reforged to the way they were prior to the damage?
Maybe it's the spring season talking. I don't know.
Have you ever had to cut people out of your life? Why? For what reasons? How has it affected you, positively and negatively?
Go Tigers!

Downtown - Detroit Beer Company / Slows
Since I had today off from the office, I hit the gym and spent a good part of the day in downtown Detroit, enjoying the scenery and partaking in local business wares. I met up with some friends at the Greektown casino, and parked in the new structure. Let me tell you, it is sheer brilliance. I love the fact that the signs tell you how many vehicles are parked on the floor. Very nice.
I met up with my friends, popped onto the People Mover, and walked around Comerica Park and Ford Field. From there we went over to the Detroit Beer Company. Totally awesome.
The Detroit Beer Company is located near Comerica Park, in the space which was once occupied by the IO -- a hole in the wall coffee/soda place which catered to the emo and indie bands in the late nineties. They re-did the interior, and it's awesome now. The beer sampler is five of their on-site brewed beers in sampler glasses. With eight beers on tap today, we had to add a couple more in there. I stayed away from the Broadway Light, but I might have to try it next time. Every other beer was quite tasty, so I'd assume it's delicious as well. After that, we popped down to Slows at the far end of Corktown. The place is marked by a large black and red sign, and a very interesting wood door. I really should have snapped a few photos, but hunger was setting in... Inside, the atmosphere was awesome. Everything was brick or wood, and the place radiated the scent of BBQ sauce. Pork, ham, chicken, and ribs were on the menu, and you could smell it. I ordered "The Reason" -- a pulled pork sandwich, along with cole slaw and cornbread. "The Reason" was delicious... served on two slices of Texas toast, and piled with a healthy mound of pork and the side of cole slaw apparently ON the sandwich. I didn't get that, though. Why put it ON the sandwich when you bill it as a side? I've also learned cornbread is not something I'm really hip on, but that's okay. The big irk about this place was that they had five BBQ sauces on the table, but they never cooked the food with it. Isn't that the epicenter of BBQ sauce cooking? That way, the flavor really gets into the meat. I enjoyed the food, but it wasn't as good as it was made out to be. Could have been a bad night to go. But you have to find it interesting that they do not place carry-out orders -- only dine-in. So, that's today's excursion to downtown Detroit. I have to say, good times were had. Easter
"The end of the something i did not want to end, Beginning of hard times to come. But something that was not meant to be is done, And this is the start of what was." ~The Streets, "Empty Cans"
Easter.
I'm not really a fan of it, and it's a bit more personal than the risen Lord (who I dig) or copious amounts of ham and kielbasa. (Ham can go, but I likes me some kielbasa.)
It truly does signify change and endings, and then new beginnings.

Going to the well (humor)
A guy dials his home phone number and a strange woman answers. The guy says, "Who is this?"
"This is the maid," answers the woman.
"We don't have a maid," says the man.
The woman says, "I was hired this morning by the lady of the house."
The man says, "Well, this is her husband. Is she there?"
The woman replies, "She is upstairs in the bed room with someone who I figured was her husband."
The guy is fuming and says to the maid, "Listen, would you like to make $50,000?"
The maid says, "What will I have to do?"
The man tells her, "I want you to get my gun from the desk, and shoot the witch and the jerk she's with."
The maid puts the phone down and the man hears footsteps and then two gun shots. The maid comes back to the phone, "What do I do with the bodies?"
The man says, "Throw them in the swimming pool."
Puzzled, the maid answers, "But you don't have a pool."
The man pauses for a moment and says, "Ummmm? Is this 567-5309?"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Two blonde hunters were dragging a deer back to their truck when another hunter happened by. "I don't want to tell you what to do," he said, "but it?s easier if you drag the deer the other way so the antlers don't dig into the ground." After the hunter left, the two decided to try it his way. After a while, one said to the other, "Man that guy was right. This is easier." "Yeah," the other replied, "but we keep getting further and further away from the truck." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Two bowling teams, one of all blondes and one of all brunettes, charter a double-decker bus for a weekend bowling tournament in Atlantic City. The brunette team rides in the bottom of the bus and the blonde team rides on the top level. The brunette team down below is having a great time, when one of them realizes she doesn't hear anything from the blondes upstairs. She decides to go up and investigate. When the brunette reaches the top, she finds all the blondes frozen in fear, staring straight ahead. She says, "What the heck is going on up here? We're having a grand time downstairs!" One of the blondes looks up and says, "Yeah, but you've got a driver!" Labels: humor
Teh block is hear!
I have no idea what to write, but then again, I'm not sure how many people read. It could be because I don't update often enough, but why update if there's nothing to say or no questions to pose? That's probably why I used to post a lot of jokes. People came back for the humor, but it wasn't really anything worth truly reading.
At least, that's my opinion.
So, eventually, I took the filler swill and degraded it to sit in the Twitter area, since it's all mental shrapnel anyway. Fragments of thoughts which may or may not make sense to the general populace.
So, what is this post about?
Writer's block.
Really, the last things of substance I've written creatively were in my last creative writing class. Before that, it was frangments of script ideas back in the old film crew days. Aside from that, my writing's been quite nil. I'm under the assumption I don't have a strong message about what I want to say. After all, if I don't know what I want to convey, I sure as hell can't write about it, right?
I'm finding life to have a lack of inspiration lately. I mean, about anything.
Maybe I'll find some inspiration somewhere. WInter, please die a horrid fate. I need spring to come. I need that spark in my life again. I need that muse to re-energize my mind.
I just need something to help me get over that hump, creatively. Labels: meh
Normally...
Normally, I stay away from political humor on the whole, because no one ever wins the argument. But.... I thought this was creative.
Funny, right? It reminded me of this one, too. Labels: humor
Teh Question is....
What have you always wanted to say to me, but haven't?
Let me know, with or without hiding behind the Anonymous mask. It matters not. I just want to know.
You know you want to.
Ha!
It just needed to be said. Labels: humor
Super Troopers
If there's one thing to thank Broken Lizard for, it's Beerfest. If there's two, there's Super Troopers. It truly is a great movie. It's hilarious. Especially Farva.
Everyone loves Farva.
Here's the thing: He actually exists. Sure names were changed, but holy hell, is this funny.
