Mr. Jingles
I just got back from seeing "Mr. Jingles" -- a horror slasher from Crossbow 5 Entertainment. I've met the director once before as she talked to me about a film I had been working on in the past. Now, I finally got to see her work. I didn't get to see their first two films, "Biker Zombies From Detroit" and "Lurking Terror", but I got to see this one.
It was a good "B" horror film -- exactly like they were trying to do. Pretty much the typical slasher flick, but it was odd. I knew all of the locations, or at least their general areas. The killing scenes were done well for the most part, but I was picking out jump cuts. The audio work definitely needed consistency, and a lot of the wide shots lacked the clarity and depth the close-ups maintained.
The story was well-done for an overdone genre. It's the easiest horror plot there is, but yet, we still keep coming back to it. The camera work had some shake to it, and I assume they shot most of their shots handheld. I did find out that it was shot on an XL1s, so I have some good familiarity with the capabilities. I think they could have gotten some more interesting shots to help enhance the story if they had had more time to shoot. Their shooting schedule was only eight days.
A few things that caught my attention were some similar death scenes to "Falling Apart". While no one copied the other, its still odd to see. I kept thinking, Didn't I just shoot that last year? Alas. Falling Apart premieres in April (hopefully) and I invited the Crossbow 5 team to come check it out.
It's also fun to see people you knew in middle school and high school bearing their breasts for the camera. Always an added bonus. ;) I have no idea what Crossbow 5 plans to do with this movie, but hey, if it's under fifteen dollars, I'd buy a copy.

Mr. Jingles just got bought by Sony Pictures and is being released this spring nationally by Lion's Gate Films home video as "2 S.I.C.K.; Mr. Jingles".
filmed 3 more movies in the last 10 months.
Awesome. It's a shame they never called me about being on crew. I'd love to shoot for them, even if I'm like the 105th unit or something.
email them at

anybody out of lower east michigan, don't bother emailing them... they only keep local and gratis work. we are having press day on the 11th of february. tell them about your blog and you would like to get a few words with them. I am sure they would be glad to invite you out (but don't quote me on that). we are also looking for food donations to feed the cast and crew on different shoots, so if you know anybody that can help us, it's a great shoe in the door with them (them being Todd and Tommy... the masterminds behind our work).
here is a link to a snapshot of our shoot from this past October up north (that's me!).

how do I post pictures?
they don't seem to load...
Yeah, it's been a while since I've talked to Tommy. Don't worry about the image links. If standard HTML didn't work, then Blogger doesn't allow HTML in comments. Not a big deal.
if you paste each line together in the address box in explorer, it will take you to the pix. they are pretty cool.
in respnse to your query... "I have no idea what Crossbow 5 plans to do with this movie, but hey, if it's under fifteen dollars, I'd buy a copy."
Mr. Jingles has been purchased by Lion's Gate Films for a July release. Lion's Gate just hit for best film of the year at the oscars with CRASH starring Matt Dillon.
They also released DEVIL'S REJECTS.
